Since the war began in 2003. Hovan provides a handy CBO chart. Showing the portion of the annual deficit that's attributable to the conflict and he shows the charred pieces but there's much more to be set of this data. And Hovan doesn't admiral admirable job. Of summarizing the highlights of the analysis Obama's stimulus. Past and its first month in office will cost more than the entire Iraq War. More than a hundred billion dollars or 15%. More. Just these first two years of the stimulus cost more than the entire cost of the Iraq War under President Bush six years of that. Iraq War spending. Accounted for 3.2. Percent. Of all federal spending while it lasted. Iraq War spending was not even a quarter. A vote we spent on Medicare in the same time period. Iraq War spending not even 15%. Of the total deficit spending in that timeframe. The cumulative deficit would have been -- four point something trillion dollars with or without the war.
